Launched in September 1977, and followed by No. 2 was launched in August of the same year, both probes succeeded in capturing clear images of the outer planets.

The Voyager program has long since taken the record for a ‘man made’ object going the furthest from the earth

Equipped with an information record called “Golden Record” the item sent into space
Each Voyager space probe carries a gold-plated audio-visual disc, should the spacecraft ever be found by intelligent life forms from other planetary systems. The disc carries photos of the Earth and its lifeforms, a range of scientific information, spoken greetings from people and a medley including the Sounds of Earth.
